Engaging Students in Thinking and Reasoning Mathematically

Routines can keep your classroom running smoothly. Imagine having a set of routines focused on helping students develop their mathematical thinking skills. This Saturday Series focuses on using the math practices as a vehicle for weaving critical thinking and reasoning into your daily teaching practices. Because not all math practices are created equal, we will focus on supporting teachers as they select the right practice for the right task. The emphasis will be to help teachers explicitly elicit mathematical thinking from their students by engaging them in a variety of tasks and activities that support students’ depth of knowledge in mathematics.
